Prepare Machine

  • Power switch located on rear of machine, left-hand side.

‘On Switch’ is located on front panel of machine.

  • Turn on water.

Set temperature to 150 degrees celcius.

Set pressure to 4200 lbs if using Phenolic resin.

    Set time to 2 minutes.

Select mold size of 1 ¼ inch.

    Select auto cooling.

Raise RAM until bottom of ram is protrudes through top of press.

    Position specimen(s) on RAM base.

Moulding Procedure

  • Lower RAM base to approximately one inch below threads.

Carefully pour at least two scoops of Phenolic resin over the specimen.

If specimen is ~1/4, then about an inch of power is sufficient.

Do NOT spill resin on to the threads!

Lower the RAM base completely to the bottom.

Place the upper RAM over the cylinder and push down into the cylinder

(Note: it is spring loaded).

Care must be taken to match the threads.

Tighten the top thread clockwise until it stops.

Then turn handle, ¼ turn in the opposite direction.

  • Carefully remove the hot upper RAM and mounted specimen.
